London City Guide

Hotel accommodation in Canary Wharf

if you’re a business traveller then staying in Canary Wharf might make a lot of sense, but if you’re a tourist then be prepared for a 15-20 minute train ride into town everyday (plus another one on top, depending on where you’re going) because it’s a long way from the centre. Catching a Thames Clipper down the river is a fun alternative, but takes double the time.

Canary Wharf is the closest that London ever gets to looking like New York, and the area is full of glass skyscrapers and the headquarters of world banks. The only tourist attraction worth visiting is the Museum of London Docklands.

We’d never recommend Canary Wharf to tourists as it’s too far away from the attractions, but if you’re working in Canary Wharf then it’s well placed by the South Dock and close to Heron Quays DLR

It’s too far away from central Canary Wharf to recommend to tourists, but it’s a good choice for business travellers. It also has a great view of the O2 Arena across the other side of the Thames
