The Royal Academy of Arts is putting on a major new exhibition about three titans of the Italian Renaissance: Michelangelo, Leonardo and Raphael.

At the turn of the 16th-century all three artists were competing for the attention of the most powerful patrons in Florence.

The exhibition explores the intense rivalry between Michelangelo and Leonardo, and the influence they both had on the young Raphael.

On display will be Michelangelo's celebrated Taddei Tondo, Leonardo's Burlington House Cartoon, and Leonardo and Michelangelo's murals at the Palazzo Vecchio.
