Peak and off-peak journey times
For Oyster and contactless off-peak is outside the hours of 6.30 AM-9.30 AM and 4 PM-7 PM (Mon-Fri). For travelcards off-peak is any time after 9.30 AM (Mon-Fri). Weekends and public holidays are always classed as off-peak. Note: Between the 8th March and 31st May 2024 TFL are running a trial called ‘Off-Peak Friday Fares’, where Fridays will be classed as off-peak all day.
The train fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter what time your journey ends.
Platform stairs, lifts and escalators at Hammersmith
The Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines at Hammersmith tube station are wheelchair accessible, and have step-free access from the street to the train. The Piccadilly line only has step-free access from the street to the platform, and there may be a step up or gap to the train
Station entrance – The entrances and the Circle/H&C line platforms are all on the level, but you must use a lift (or 2x13 steps down) between the Hammersmith Broadway southside, Queen Caroline Street eastside and Butterwick Bus & Coach Station entrances and the District/Piccadilly line platforms. And you must use four flights of stairs (2x13 steps down +8 steps up +20 steps up) followed by a lift (or 2x13 steps down) from the Hammersmith Bridge Road entrance and the District/Piccadilly line platforms
Station exit – The Circle/H&C line platforms and the exits are all on the level, but you must use a lift (or 2x13 steps up) between the District/Piccadilly line platforms and the Hammersmith Broadway southside, Queen Caroline Street eastside and Butterwick Bus & Coach Station exits. And you must use a lift (or 2x13 steps up) followed by four flights of stairs (20 steps up +8 steps down +2x13 steps down) between the District/Piccadilly line platforms and the Hammersmith Bridge Road exit
Changing train platforms – Changing between the Circle and H&C line platforms, or the District and Piccadilly line platforms, are all on the level, but you must use a lift and walk 520 metres outside in the street to change between the Circle/H&C platforms and District/Piccadilly platforms

Staff Sure, if you get the District line to Richmond train. (If you get the District line to Ealing Broadway from the same platform then you'll have to change at Turnham Green)

Becky I need to have unlimited tubes and/or buses for 3 days. I'll be arriving in Ldndon by Kingscross (tickets already paid for) and also for my 17 year daughter. What do I do please and where do I purchase these tickets please?
Staff Hi Becky. Assuming that you both have UK bank cards, then the easiest thing to do is just pay by contactless - city-guide.london/transport/contactless-cards.php - otherwise you'll have to buy an Oyster card (a weekly travelcard wouldn't be worth it just for three days). You can buy Oyster cards from the Travel Information Centre inside King's Cross station
Michelle shaner I will be staying in Hammersmith London on June 6. I am at the Holiday inn express hammersmith. Wanted to go to Southampton that day and not sure which train station is close by and times leaving and coming back. I am from US.
Staff Hi Michelle. trains to southampton go from victoria and waterloo. Easiest thing to do is get the district line from hammersmith to victoria. You can look up train times on the national rail website (you might want to buy your ticket online in advance because it will be cheaper than buying it on the day) - nationalrail.co.uk/

Staff Hi Jackie. They have self-service machines with touch screens and you can choose the name of the station you’re travelling to
david bracken I Like your information about stairs, lifts & escalators, as an emphysema person with breathing difficulties I have asked Transport For London to publish the number of steps at each tube station. So far they will not publish. Will you extend your good details of station step numbers to platforms/street to every tube station?
Staff Hi David. Like you say, TFL don't provide the number of steps for every station (at least, not publicly), only whether they have stairs, lifts or escalators. but we’ll continue to put the numbers on where we can find them.

Elizabeth We are changing at Hammersmith for Blackfriars. Is it easy enough to find the new line? Traveling with someone who has mobility problems. Do I use my card to tap out when leaving one platform and back in for Blackfriars? Thanks
Staff Hi Elizabeth. You don't say what line you're changing from (there's a few of them), but if you look at the 'Changing train platforms' section then it describes it all. The Circle and Hammersmith/City lines at Hammersmith are completely separate from the District and Piccadilly lines at Hammersmith -- they are two different stations -- so if you're changing between them then you'll have to come out and cross over the road.
