The Lord Mayor's Show is one of the world's longest running pageants with military bands and acrobats, decorated floats and a gold coach. It's nearly 800 years old and takes place every year when the new Lord Mayor of London gets sworn into office (...not to be confused with the Mayor of London, which is a totally different office).

The two-mile procession usually begins at 11 AM outside Mansion House. The Band of the Coldstream Guards then lead it down Poultry and Cheapside (11.07 AM), before turning left past One New Change and down the side of St. Paul's Cathedral (11.13 AM). This is where the main grandstands will be -- if you want to sit in the grandstands then you have to get hold of a ticket from lordmayorsshow.london.

The gold coach sets off from the Guildhall a little while later and doesn't arrive at Mansion House until just after 12 noon, where it will pick up the new Lord Mayor. It then passes Cheapside and St. Paul's Cathedral at roughly 12:08 PM, where the new Lord Mayor pauses to receive a blessing. It then heads down Ludgate Hill and Fleet Street towards the Royal Courts of Justice where the Mayor will take an oath of allegiance to the King.

Note: The head of the procession will have reached here long before the Mayor (at roughly 11:28 AM), but the Lord Mayor won't get there until about 12:28 PM.

The end of the parade will reach the Royal Courts of Justice at about 12.32 PM and then form up again along the Victoria Embankment (just past Temple station). The return journey will then set off at around 1.10 PM, heading along the river towards Mansion House, arriving at approx 1.32 PM. The gold coach carrying the Mayor will arrive around 2.32 PM.
