Tate Britain's new exhibition will be exploring feminist art in the UK from 1970 to 1990.
The first of its kind, this exhibition will shine a spotlight on how women used radical and rebellious methods to make an invaluable contribution to British culture, helping to fuel the women's liberation movement during two decades of social, economic and political change.
During the 1970s and 1980s a new wave of feminists used their lived experiences to fight against injustice through their paintings, photographs, films and performances. They took a stand for reproductive rights, equal pay and race equality, leading to the formation of the British Black Arts Movement and the opening of the first women's refuge.
These artists were often left out of the artistic narratives of the time, and this will be the first time many of their works have been on display since the 1970s.
