This phenomenally successful show tells the story of a little girl armed with an amazing imagination and a love of books.
Matilda's mum and dad think she's a nuisance and her monstrous headmistress spends all day stomping around the school scaring the pupils (and her fellow teachers!).
Only the kindly librarian recognises Matilda's talent, but when the tyrannical Miss Trunchbull tells her off one final time she decides she's finally had enough and unleashes her special powers.
Her classmates join the rebellion and everything quickly descends into anarchy. The children are revolting, and it's time to teach the grown-ups a lesson!
Original songs by comedian Tim Minchin
The soundtrack of original songs by comedian Tim Minchin perfectly captures the wild spirit and defiance of unruly children, and is filled with catchy melodies like When I Grow Up, Revolting Children and Naughty.
Winner of over 100 international awards
Since it opened in 2010 the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda has picked up over 100 international awards including 4 Tony Awards, 7 Olivier Awards and 24 for Best Musical.

Your comments and questions
Claiure How old does a child have to be to see this show?
Staff The official advice on their website is as follows: "We suggest age 6+, but younger guests are welcome. The show is quite long, quite loud in parts, and can be quite scary. Children need to occupy their own seats at all times throughout the performance. Babes in arms are not permitted."
