Bateaux London is a posh dinner cruise. You get a great meal and live entertainment as you float slowly down the Thames, taking in some nighttime views of St. Paul's and Tower Bridge.

The boats they use have huge windows, so every table has a good view of the London landmarks floating past the window.

During the cruise you'll be served a coffee, cocktail and either a three or five-course meal from the a la carte menu (depending on which package you buy). A typical menu might include a half bottle of mineral water or wine per person plus salmon, Jerusalem artichoke veloute or Game terrine for starters, followed by braised lamb shank, tempeh and barley risotto or seabass fillet. Desert might be a choice between toffee pudding, apple and cinnamon crumble or pecan pie (menu is subject to change).

A live band will be playing a selection of jazz tunes while you eat, and then something a bit more uplifting for your after-dinner dancing.

Note: Children under the age of 16 are not permitted, and the dress code is smart to formal. No denim or sportswear is allowed, and a jacket and tie is encouraged for gentlemen. They might refuse to let you onboard if you turn up in the wrong clothes.

If you'd like a cruise down the river without the food and drink, then there are several companies that offer sightseeing tours. City Cruises is the most popular, but we prefer TRS because they've got smaller boats. Thames Clippers go a lot further (all the way to The O2), but they don't provide any commentary onboard.
