Peak and off-peak journey times

For Oyster and contactless off-peak is outside the hours of 6.30 AM-9.30 AM and 4 PM-7 PM (Mon-Fri). For travelcards off-peak is any time after 9.30 AM (Mon-Fri). Weekends and public holidays are always classed as off-peak. Note: Between the 8th March and 31st May 2024 TFL are running a trial called ‘Off-Peak Friday Fares’, where Fridays will be classed as off-peak all day.

The underground fare is based on what time your journey begins. It doesn’t matter what time your journey ends.

Station entrance – You must use two flights of stairs from the Palmer Street entrance to the platforms (16 steps down +15 steps down, Mon-Fri only), and either two or three flights of stairs from the Broadway, Tothill Street and Petty France entrances (17 steps down +16 steps down, or 9 steps down +7 steps down +14 steps down). There is no lift

Staff Hi Gloria. No, you have to use stairs whichever entrance you use. Its all explained in the ‘Platform stairs’ section above

Staff Hi Eileen. One of the exits is actually labelled Petty France

Yumi Could you please tell me if it’s easy to catch a taxi around St.James’s Station?

Staff Hi Yumi. Well it depends what time of day you’re there. It doesn't have a taxi rank but Petty France is a busy road so you can flag one down after a while

Yumi Thank you for your reply. I'll be there around 8:30-9:00 am this weekend. I think it's difficult because it's a weekend morning. I will walk to the hotel!

Julia Can you get to platform 2 gust the Tothill entrance ?

Staff Hi Julia. Not certain what you mean, but you can get to both platforms from any entrance.
