Tate Britain will be exploring the social and political changes during one of Britain's most critical decades - the 1980s.

The exhibition will include work from a wide range of photographers and publications who recorded the turbulent Thatcher years, encompassing everything from race uprisings and miner strikes, to the AIDS pandemic and Section 28.

During the 1980s photography was increasingly used as a tool for social change, political activism and artistic experiments. The powerful images on display gave a voice to the underrepresented groups in society, shining a light on the Black arts movement, queer experiences and the South Asian diaspora.
