The National Gallery will be putting on a special display about Degas's Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando, to share some of the newly discovered information about the painting and its sitter.
This masterpiece of Impressionism features a remarkable figure: the circus aerialist Miss La La, aka Anna Albertine Olga Brown.
In 1879 Degas made her the subject of one of his most original paintings, capturing her as she hung suspended from a rope held between her teeth, spiralling towards the ceiling of the circus tent.
The new material on show includes some previously untraced drawings and unpublished photographic portraits of Miss La La.
